As a leading South African digital marketing agency, we take great pride in the online marketing and digital campaigns we develop for our clients. Here are brief examples of some of the projects we’ve been involved with across our five core disciplines of web development and e-commerce development, search engine optimization, email newsletter, bulk SMS and short code SMS messaging, and social media marketing.

Web development

Pearson, the global publishing group, appointed us to build a website to support its Smart-Kids educational bookset. This site used jQuery animation to create a fun user experience that was compatible with Apple devices which eschew Flash. Following the successful conclusion of this project we were appointed to provide ongoing digital marketing services for Pearson South Africa and have a number of projects under development and due for launch in late 2011 and early 2012 - central to these is the creation of a single back end database which will serve content to six individual websites which represent Pearson's key brands in the Southern African market.

Rhodes Food Group, South Africa’s largest canned fruit and fresh meal producer, appointed us to redesign their corporate website and port content from a Drupal 5 environment to Drupal 6. Tight deadlines meant our engineers pulled out all the stops and completed the web development project in three weeks. We launched a consumer-oriented Rhodes brand site in mid 2011. In late 2011 we completed the first phase of a website project for Contego Asset Management. They wanted to use the website to demystify the fussy and stifled world of finance - by creating a simple site with a great look and feel we were able to help them make complex financial products much more accessible. Landbou.com is the online presence for Africa’s largest farming media title. One of a number of content rich media sites 2Stroke has developed for Media24, Landbou was designed to keep farmers abreast of market information. As a consequence, site traffic and stickiness grew, leading to enhanced revenue opportunities for the site owners.

E-commerce

Our integrated online marketing campaign transformed business through Chris Willemse Cycles’ e-commerce site. A great web design with a user friendly shopping cart boosted conversions, while comprehensive search engine optimisation and aggressive email newsletter and short code SMS promotions drove traffic. An initial email-centred campaign increased sales by over 400% in less than 12 months.

We've done the same for the wine industry by building and supporting strong sites for South African wine fundi Caroline Rilemma - her budget wine warehouse site complements her fine wine business.

Search Engine Optimization

2Stroke’s organic search engine optimisation (SEO) services have helped transform sales at Living Water, a leading London office water supplier. Read the full SEO case study on how a range of on page and off page activity grew traffic and increased site stickiness. By integrating social activity as part of the SEO campaign we were also able to leverage Facebook and YouTube to enhance site authority while pushing qualified prospects to the website.

For DirectAxis, one of South Africa’s leading loan providers, we built an organic campaign that gave them a powerful presence in the primary search engines on a range of head terms and long tail queries. When the campaign started, DirectAxis wasn’t making it into the top 400 Google returns on any of its key search phrases. Today it has a swathe of page one rankings in the fiercely competitive personal finance sector.

Over at Assignment3, a well known Cape Town branding company, we initiated an organic SEO campaign targeting a range of phrases in the signage and printing industry. As well as fixing a variety of technical issues on their WordPress website (which we'll soon be converting to Drupal) to make it easier for search engines to locate relevant information, we created loads of content helping to position the company as an authority on a range of branding related matters to human and spider visitors alike. Within three months of initiating the campaign, we'd increased visitor numbers by 300%.

Bulk SMS

A 2Stroke Interactive mobile marketing campaign for Kauai Juice distributed bulk SMS and MMS messages to hungry consumers, influencing their buying decisions. A more detailed case study of this bulk SMS project is available here.

Short code SMS

Ramfest, one of South Africa’s premier music festivals, Chris Willemse Cycles and Village & Life have all used 2Stroke’s short code SMS campaigns to build permission-based opt-in databases for use in other digital marketing initiatives.

Email newsletter

Each month, over 120 000 Wild card members receive personalised email newsletters containing news from SANParks the body responsible for managing South Africa’s National Parks. An industry beating open rate of between 25% and 30% helps drive sales and communicate news of conservation initiatives.
