Africa is mobile. More people perform more transactions on cell phones than ever before and the numbers are set to rise exponentially in the coming years, making it essential for organisations to give mobile marketing as a central role in their broader online activity.
To provide some context: Time Magazine recently reported that more than 265 million Africans will subscribe to mobile broadband services 2015 – up from around 12 million at the end of 2010.
Although South Africa lags Nigeria and Egypt in terms of numbers of subscribers, it has many more smartphone users. They’re surfing the internet, banking, shopping, interacting with social media and streaming music.
